Shared SSL IP
Learn what a shared SSL IP is and exactly how you could use one to promptly set up an SSL certificate.
If you want to protect the information that visitors submit on your website, you will require an SSL certificate. The abbreviation is short for Secure Sockets Layer and this is a protocol used to encrypt any information exchanged between an Internet site and its users as to ensure that even if an unauthorized person intercepts any data, they will not be able to read or use it in any way. The existing level of encryption makes it pretty much impossible to decrypt the actual content, and so if you have a login form of some sort or you offer products and services online and customers submit credit card info, using an SSL certificate will be an assurance that the information is secure. Usually a dedicated IP address is needed to install an SSL, which will increase the cost to maintain your website. The additional expense may matter if you run a small online shop, a non-profit organization or any other entity that doesn't generate a big income, so to save you the cash, our cloud web hosting platform supports installing an SSL certificate on a shared server IP address, not a dedicated one.

Shared SSL IP in Hosting
You shall be able to use this option with all our
hosting solutions and with any SSL certificate issued from any vendor. If you prefer to use an SSL from our company, everything will be set up automatically and you'll not have to do anything after you obtain and approve the certificate. The SSL order wizard will allow you to choose a shared IP to be used and the SSL to be installed by our system, so using this feature requires a maximum of two additional clicks after you fill the needed info for the certificate. The adequate functioning of the SSL shall not be influenced in any way and any information which site visitors submit on your website shall be encrypted and protected in the same exact way. The only difference from working with a dedicated address is that http:// shall not open your website, but it is unlikely that anyone will ever try to access it that way instead of entering your
domain name within the browser URL bar.

Shared SSL IP in Semi-dedicated Hosting
The shared IP address option is available with all
Linux semi-dedicated hosting packages and the setup takes only 2 clicks inside the hosting CP irrespective if you get an SSL from our business or via a third-party supplier. There won't be any difference in the way the certificate works or encrypts the info which your visitors submit, so your website will be protected without spending the additional cash for a dedicated IP address. The only thing that will be different is that https://the-shared-IP won't open your site, unlike https://the-dedicated-IP, but it is unlikely that anybody shall ever try to access your site in this way instead of entering your domain name. In addition, we offer an auto-configuration option for the SSLs obtained through our company and if you select it and you choose to use a shared IP instead of a dedicated one, our system shall set everything up the instant the SSL is approved and issued without the need for any action on your end.
